Malinda Siegfried

Malinda L. Siegfried, age 90 of Belview, formerly of Redwood Falls, passed away Monday, August 2, 2010 at the Redwood Area Hospital.  Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, August 7 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Redwood Falls.  Visitation will be held 4:00-6:00 p.m. on Friday at the Redwood Valley Funeral Home and will continue one hour prior to services at the church on Saturday.  At the request of Malinda, in lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to St. John’s Lutheran School Building Fund or the organization of the donor’s choice.   The Redwood Valley Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

Malinda Siegfried was born March 29, 1920 in Leavenworth Township to Fred and Laura (Schiller) Prahl.  She was baptized April 25, 1920 and confirmed April 9, 1933 by Pastor William Albrecht at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Sleepy Eye.  Malinda was united in marriage to Harold Siegfried on July 31, 1938 by Pastor E. Birkholz at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Redwood Falls.  She held offices with Lutheran Women’s Missionary Society and Ladies Aid, and was a member of the OWLS.  Malinda volunteered to help at St. John’s Lutheran School and church office.  She also worked at the grocery store, Montgomery Wards Store and the Redwood Area Hospital for many years.  Malinda enjoyed crossword puzzles and watching game shows, loved baking and cooking and sharing those gifts with her family and friends.  She was a loving and Christian mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, and great-grandmother.  Malinda devoted her life to God, her church, and her family.

Malinda is survived by her children: Gary Harold (Gloria) Siegfried and Dianne Kay Donner; grandchildren: Todd (Christine) Siegfried, Tamie (Roger) Galles, Tim (Pam) Siegfried, Bob Donner, Daniel Donner and Chad (Leah) Donner; 15 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; and brother James (Joyce) Prahl.  She is preceded in death by her father, mother, son-in-law Gary Donner, infant brother Robert, and brother and sister-in-law Virgil and Sylvia Prahl.
