Jeffery “Jeff” Herman Halfmann was born August 24, 1960 in Tracy, Minnesota to Harold and Shirley (Willard) Halfmann. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Tracy. He attended grade school at St. Mary’s Catholic School, and graduated from Tracy High School. He then furthered his education at Jackson Vo-Tec, earning a degree in auto mechanics. Jeff married Tammy Bruss and they made their home in Wabasso, where they raised their 3 daughters – Stacy, Kristine, and Laura. This marriage later dissolved. For the last ten years, Jeff found love and companionship with Melanie Lienig, and they enjoyed life together. Jeff worked for Goblirsch Motors in Wabasso for over 30 years as an auto mechanic. He was currently employed at Shetek State Park as a Security Groundskeeper. He was active as a member of the Wabasso Jaycees, Saratoga Archery Club near Tracy, and the National Wild Turkey Federation. Hunting was a passion of Jeff’s, and he took many big game hunting trips with his dad. He also enjoyed hunting with his daughter, Laura, and teaching his grandchildren his hunting tricks and how to shoot bow and arrow. Jeff loved his grandchildren deeply. He enjoyed visiting Kristine’s daycare and loved to feed the babies. They lovingly called him Grandpa Jeff. Although he was not fond of dogs, Jeff’s mind was changed when Melanie brought home a puppy named Snickers. She quickly became Jeff’s “baby” and he loved spoiling her. Jeff is survived by his significant other Melanie Lienig of Wabasso; father Harold (Marlene) Halfmann of Tracy; daughters: Kristine (Darren) Martius of Sanborn and Laura Halfmann of Mitchell, SD; grandchildren: Tyler, Amy, Angel and Karson Martius, and Jamina and Malak Halfmann; siblings: Deb (Dave) Johnson of Tracy, Judy (Dennis) Alexander of Tracy, Mary Newberg (Jeff Evans) of Tracy; sister-in-law Angie Halfmann of Chandler, AZ; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his mother Shirley, daughter Stacy Halfmann, grandson Jordan Martius, brother Steve Halfmann, and brother-in-law Art Newberg. |
