Terrence Holger Keller was born June 20, 1932 in Dovray Township, Murray County, Minnesota to Holger Peter and Gladys Sofia (Peterson) Keller. Terry was baptized on July 3, 1932 at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Dovray by the Rev. E.S. Estrem. In 1937, Terry moved with his family up north to Lake Lillian for one year before moving back to the Dovray area. He was confirmed in 1946 by the Rev. L.B. Brakke, also at Our Savior’s in Dovray. Terry attended grade school in Dovray, and graduated from Westbrook High School in 1950. Terry farmed and ran his own painting business. He was very proud of the family homestead being named a Minnesota Century Farm. Terry was a devoted member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church where he served in many capacities, including custodian, treasurer, church council member, and cemetery groundskeeper. He took great pride in mowing many different cemeteries and kept them all looking pristine. Terry lived his faith every day, through his many kind actions. He never criticized others or treated anyone unkindly. He lovingly cared for his mother for 25 years following the death of his father in 1963. He later cared for his sister, Betty. Terry never complained about helping others; he felt it was his Christian calling in life. Terry’s greatest joys in life were his many nieces and nephews. He remembered each family member’s birthday with a special box of candy or a two dollar bill sent in the mail. Terry was the keeper of the family history and he lovingly created special scrapbooks for his family members. Terry loved driving his Model T Ford for weddings and parades, eating lunch with his friends at the Dovray Café, and spending time at his church. His generosity and willingness to help others earned him the respect and love of his family in addition to the community around him. Terry will forever be remembered for his servant heart. Terry is survived by his sister, Eunice Christensen of Clive, Iowa; nieces and nephew: Cindy (Steven) Rupp, David (Sydney) Rupp, Cathie (Paul) Maeyaert; Christie (Warren) Wicks; great-nieces and nephews: Christopher Rupp, Adam (Ericha) Rupp, Tristin Rupp, Jason (Jenny) Rupp, Lisa Rupp, Nicole (Colby) Prins, Daniel (Chesley) Maeyaert, Andrea Wilkinson; Sierra Wicks, Jake Wicks, great-great-nieces and nephews: Trevor, Kameron, Lincoln, Nevaeh, Peyton, Kaleah, Paizley, Audrey, Adelynne, Hudson, Cerise, Brayden, Olivia, Dakota, Layla, Scarlette. He is preceded in death by his parents, sister Betty, brothers-in-law Reuben Rupp and Ronald Christensen. |
