Dale Nuel Nelson, age 79 of Revere, passed away peacefully Monday, June 28, 2021 at Sanford Westbrook Hospital. Visitation will be 4:00-6:00 p.m. Thursday, July 1 at Walnut Grove Funeral Home with a prayer service at 6:00 p.m. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service at church. Memorial Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, July 2, 2021 at English Lutheran Church in Walnut Grove. Interment will be in the Old Westbrook Lutheran Cemetery. Dale Nuel Nelson was born July 31, 1941 to Nuel and Doris (Mathiason) Nelson on the family farm in Ann Township, Minnesota. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith at Old Westbrook Lutheran Church. Dale graduated from Walnut Grove High School in 1959. On October 26, 1963, Dale married the love of his life Lynn Larson in Cloquet, MN. Together they welcomed two children, Kelly and Tim. Dale enjoyed playing guitar and was a member of many singing groups. Music was his favorite pastime. He also enjoyed collecting antiques. Farming was Dale’s passion. He served on the elevator and the Ann township board during his lifetime. Even after his retirement from farming in 2010, he would wait until harvest to leave for Arizona and was always home in time to plant sweetcorn. Dale enjoyed his winters in Arizona, where he and Lynn spent the past 20 years and made many lifelong friends. He loved to golf, play pickle ball and to visit with friends. Dale especially loved spending time with his family. Dale is survived by his wife Lynn Nelson of 57 years; daughter: Kelly Hoffman; daughter-in-law Julie Nelson; grandchildren: Kristina (Jeremy Thurman) Nelson, Ryan (Ayla Snyder) Hoffman, Kayla Nelson, Lacey (Cody) Groebner, Elijah (Melissa) Nelson, Jessica (Michael) Lawler, Katelyn and William Nelson; great grandchildren: Lily, Paisley, Jacob, Olivia, Isabella, Amelia, Lily, Violet and Leo; and siblings: Judie Harnack and Bob Nelson. He is preceded in death by his parents, sons Tim Nelson & baby boy Nelson, son-in-law Jeff Hoffman, brothers Lyle, Gary & Rick, and brother-in-law Darlo Harnack. Blessed be his memory! |
