Marj Peterson, age 95 of Tracy, passed away Saturday, August 14, 2021 at Sunrise Manor Nursing Home in Tyler. Memorial Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, August 18, 2021 at Tracy Lutheran Church. Visitation will be held 5:00-7:00 p.m. Tuesday at the Tracy Area Funeral Home with a prayer service at 6:45 p.m. Visitation will continue for one hour prior to the service on Wednesday at the church. Burial is in Modum Cemetery, rural Garvin. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be sent to a hospice of the donor’s choice. Marjorie H. Peterson was born June 10, 1926 to William and Bertha (Gilb) Manke in Tracy, Minnesota. She grew up in Tracy and graduated from Tracy High School in 1944. After school, Marj attended Mankato State Teacher’s College in Mankato, graduating in 1946. She then took a teaching position in Ellendale, Minnesota as a first-grade teacher. On July 23rd, 1947, Marj married her high school sweetheart, traveling companion, and love of her life, Duane “Pete” Peterson in Tracy. They moved to Garvin where Pete was working with his father, and she substitute taught in Amiret for one year. After that, Marj became a housewife and travel planner as they traveled the world. Marj was a member of Tracy Lutheran Church and was very active in civic groups in Tracy, including the Tracy Country Club, many afternoon and evening Bridge clubs, Garvin NIVRAG’s club, and 73 years in the Garvin American Legion Auxiliary. She was an amazing cook, loved to entertain and was always active. She enjoyed being with friends and family as she liked good conversation. Marj especially enjoyed her grandchildren’s sporting events. Marj is survived by her son: Mark (Kathy) Peterson of Garvin and grandchildren: Heidi (Justin) Deragisch, Eric (Jenna) Peterson; son: Ivar Peterson of Coon Rapids; son-in-law: Jim Kaiser of Richfield and grandchildren: Chris (Lisbet) Kaiser, Marjie (Joffrey) Sarphati, Andy (Krista) Kaiser, Amanda Kaiser; along with many great grandchildren; nieces; nephews; and other relatives and friends. Marj is preceded in death by her parents, husband Duane, daughter Kristin Kaiser, sister Mildred Otto, brother Bob Manke, and brothers-in-law Bill Otto and Irv Peterson. Marj traveled the world and was a First-Class wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Blessed be mom’s memory. |
