Donald “Jake” Alois Jacob age 79, of Tracy passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 28, 2022 at Prairie Home at Fieldcrest Assisted Living in Cottonwood. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, September 6, 2022 at Tracy Lutheran Church. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at church. Interment will be in the Tracy City Cemetery. Donald Jacob was born May 15, 1943 to Gerard and Elizabeth (Doom) Jacob in Marshall, Minnesota. He was baptized and confirmed in the Catholic faith. He attended school in Marshall. Following his schooling, Don worked at home on the farm. On June 27, 1964, Don married Bonnie Rose Fogel at the Chapel of the Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Marshall. They lived together in Marshall until 1966 and then in Windom for one year before moving to Tracy in November 1967. Don worked for a period of time at Lyon County Coop and later at Bud Hayes Ford before he opened Don’s Repair. Don was always willing to help anyone with projects. He was on the Tracy Fire Department for 32 years and was a Scout Master for the Boy Scouts. Don was a faithful member of Tracy Lutheran Church. In his spare time, Don enjoyed wood working, gardening and tinkering with anything. Don loved hunting in Wyoming with his wife Bonnie and friend Ron, as well as going deer hunting up north with his family. Other high lights of Don’s were camping at all of the Minnesota state parks and fishing. He loved playing Free Cell on the computer and watching westerns; he might have been John Wayne’s biggest fan. Don is survived by his children Teresa (Jeff) Goettig of Tracy, Darren (Kelly J.) Jacob of Tracy, and daughter-in-law Kelly A. Jacob of Garvin; grandchildren: Aaron (fiancée Leia Tyrrell) Goettig, Derick Goettig, Tim Jacob, Stephanie Jacob, Nathan Jacob, Brandi Meyer, and Joshua Jacob; great grandchildren: Marlee, Dalia, Hendrix, Maddox, Junior, Chase, Ryan, Sophia, Sheldon, Dana, Skylar, Landon, Whitney and Gabriel; and siblings: Jeanette Bestland of Grand Rapids, and Robert (Lois) Jacob of Spicer; and other relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, wife Bonnie, son Daniel Jacob, parents-in-law Lawrence and Bonita Fogel, brother George, and sisters Delores (George) Vierstraete, and Marion Jacob. |
