Mavis P. Duggen, age 89 of Westbrook, passed away Sunday, June 18, 2023 at Westbrook Good Samaritan Society Care Center. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, June 23, 2023 at Grace Lutheran Church in Westbrook. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at church on Friday. Interment will be in the Trinity Lutheran Cemetery in Brewster. Mavis P. (Beerman) Duggen was born September 29, 1933 to Reinhard and Emma (Mischke) Beerman in Heron Lake, Minnesota. She graduated from the Brewster High School in 1951. In her high school years, Mavis participated in the Drum and Bugle Corp. On March 9, 1954, Mavis was united in marriage to Bill Duggen. The couple farmed south of Westbrook. In 1969, Mavis and Bill moved into Westbrook. Mavis worked 32 years at the Westbrook Schmidt Memorial Hospital and six years at the Westbrook Clinic as a nurse’s assistant. Mavis enjoyed crafting, crocheting numerous afghans, quilting and counted cross stitching. Together Mavis and Bill travelled to craft vendor shows with homemade craft items. Homestead Crafts was the name of their business. Mavis was very involved in her church; she was a member of Circle group, sewing, taught bible school and sang in the choir. Mavis joined the Red Hatters Club and enjoyed playing cards. She loved family time together for the traditional homemade ice cream. After she retired, Mavis continued crafting, traveling and enjoying her grandchildren. Mavis is survived by her children: Jan Rhubee of Jeffers and Ron (Heidi) of Clear Lake; grandchildren: Amber Rhubee (Troy Casey), Jed (Gretchen) Rhubee both of Jeffers, Justina (Sam) Lindgren of Visalia, CA and Errol Johnson of Tomah, WI; great grandchildren: Abigail, Jack & Marshall Rhubee all of Jeffers; and many other relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, Reinhard & Emma Beerman, husband Bill Duggen, infant children Patricia, Darrell and Debra, grandson Jeremiah Johnson, son-in-law Bruce Rhubee, sister and brother-in-law Joyce and Alvin Reinken, brother and sister-in-law Raymond and Jean Beerman, and nephews Larry & Wayne Reinken. |
