Robert “Bob” S. Anderson, age 76 of Tracy, passed away suddenly, Thursday, August 24, 2023 at his home. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 30, 2023 at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Marshall. Visitation will be 4:00-7:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 29 at Tracy Area Funeral Home with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service at church on Wednesday. Interment will be at a later date. Robert S. Anderson was born September 15, 1946, to Elmer and Esther (Halverson) Anderson in Luverne, Minnesota. He was baptized in Luverne and later confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church in Hardwick. Bob grew up in Hardwick where he attended K-8th grade at the local grade school. In 1964, he graduated from Luverne High School. Following graduation he worked on the construction of I-90 from Beaver Creek to Magnolia, until he was drafted on December 7, 1965. On September 9, 1967, he was united in marriage to Rose Mary Bauman in Jasper. After he was honorably discharged from the U.S. Army on December 7, 1967, he was a patrolman on the Luverne Police Department and then became a Deputy Sheriff at McCook County South Dakota Sheriffs Department. Bob later began a full time position with the Minnesota Army National Guard in Tracy. Between the Army and the Army National Guard, he had 32 years of service, ending his career as a Master Sergeant. He received many letters of commendation, a National Defense Medal, Army Good Conduct medal, two Army Achievement Medals, three Minnesota Commendation medals and two state active duty medals. After retirement, he filled his spare time delivering fire trucks coast to coast. He enjoyed golfing now and then and walking his dog Gizmo. Bob loved cooking for his family and friends. He was a grill master and enjoyed baking banana bread and cookies for his loved ones.
Robert is survived by his wife Rose Mary; children: Michael (Mindy) of Hutchinson and Angela (Stephen) Budd of Roseville; grandchildren: Cody & Colton (fiancée Chloe) Anderson and Ethan, Samantha & Lauren Budd; siblings: Judy Johnson of Eugene, OR, Jan (Al) Theis of Red Wing, Orrin (Karen) Anderson of Sioux Falls, SD, and Bruce “Buzz” (Linda) Anderson of Eagan; and brother-in-law Dennis Lorenz of Coeur d’Alene, ID. The family that Bob joins again is his parents, sister Joan Lorenz, brother-in-law Lyman Johnson and furry companions Snoopy, DeeDee, Herman & Gizmo. |
