Viola Irene (Benson) Mosier was born June 1, 1925 to Jens and Amelia (Larsen) Benson in Redwood County, Minnesota. She was baptized in Mankato and attended country school through eighth grade. From age 14 to 26 she cared for her bed stricken mother (arthritis) as well as taking care of all her mother’s regular duties on the farm. This was a tremendous responsibility, but she would just say, “It needed to be done, so I did it.” On May 10, 1952, Viola married the love of her life Harold Robert Mosier in Morgan. The couple settled in Redwood Falls, where Viola was a stay at home mom and raising 5 children. Later Viola worked for Control Data, later known as Zytec, from 1970-1988. Her faith was very important to her and she loved her Bible and her Savior. As a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church, she was able to hold church in her home in her later years after the Morgan SDA Church closed. Viola enjoyed vegetable gardening, canning, reading, crocheting and embroidery. She loved feeding and watching birds and fishing with Harold. After Harold died in 1989, her greatest love was being with family. During those years, she took 2 extended trips to Africa with family, canoe trips into Canada, and lots of trips to visit children and grandchildren. She spent the last 3 years living with her son and daughter in law in Dodge Center. She greatly anticipated the second coming of Jesus and years in Heaven with family. Viola is survived by her children: Joan (Darrell) Haugen of Hutchinson, Barry (Marybeth) Mosier of Dodge Center, Lynn Mosier of Hutchinson, Dean Mosier of Richfield, and Patti (Larry) Duscher of Bonners Ferry, ID; grandchildren: Tammie (Ryan) Heinbaugh, Tricia (Sean) Keating, Tara (Doug) Briggman, Laura (Ben) Abbott, Keith (Tammy) Mosier, Jared (Amy) Mosier, April Mosier, and Andrew Mosier; step-grandchildren: Darin Prescott and Gabriel (Kara) Prescott; and 30 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband Harold, step-daughter Cheryl Prescott, three brothers and two sisters. |
