Lorraine Janet (Gullickson) Kasten was born January 25, 1929 to George and Julia (Forkrud) Gullickson on the family farm south of Sacred Heart, Minnesota. The family later moved to a farm in Swedes Forest, where Lorraine attended Country School District #5 and then graduated from Belview High School. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith, where over the years she was a Sunday school teacher, on the finance committee and an active member of the Ladies Aide. After graduation, Lorraine began her first job working at the JCPenney Store. On September 1, 1956, she married Joseph Buehler, whom later passed in a car accident on January 19, 1957, before their daughter, Jolene, was born. Lorraine continued to work at the JCPenney Store. On August 2, 1958 she married Donald Hansen. Donald later passed away on August 16, 1959 in a car crash, leaving Lorraine with an infant son and her daughter to raise. She continued to work at the store with the help of family and friends. On December 2, 1961, Lorraine was united in marriage to Dennis Kasten. She then was a stay at home mom, until her children were all in school. Lorraine went back into the workforce at Wooddale Nursing Home and then at Control Data/Zytec. She later retired from Artesyn. You could often find Lorraine doing embroidery or ceramics. She enjoyed playing cards and watching the Vikings and Dr. Phil. Traveling on bus tours all over the U.S.A. with Dennis was one of her favorite things to do. Lorraine was a loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She enjoyed when her family would get together for the holidays and making delicious dinners with her home-made buns and desserts. Lorraine is survived by her husband Dennis; children: Jolene (Bob) Kissner, Gene (Sue) Hansen, Karen (Joel) Baune, and Gary (Darcy) Kasten; grandchildren: Keisha Jaros, Kindra (Ben) Lasnau, Lindsy (Eric) Wyler, Alysen Hansen, Jocelyn (Jeremy Iverson) Baune, Jenna (Mat) Pendleton, Tara (Jordan) Twining, Dustan (Kelly) Kasten and Blaine (Tesla) Kasten; 20 great grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.
