Lucille Plaetz, age 99 years 6 months and 25 days, of Wabasso passed away on Friday, January 26, 2024 at the Wabasso Rehab Center. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, February 2, 2024 at St. Anne’s Catholic Church in Wabasso. Visitation will be held from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. Thursday, February 1, 2024 AT THE CHURCH with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m. and a rosary service will follow. Visitation will then continue one hour prior to services on Friday. Interment is in St. Anne’s Catholic Cemetery. Stephens Funeral Service -Redwood Valley Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements. Lucille was born July 1, 1924 in Sleepy Eye, MN to Harry & Mary (Seidl) Remiger. She received the sacraments in the Catholic faith. Lucille attended country school near Sleepy Eye before moving to the Wabasso area with her family when she was 13 years old. On May 28, 1946, Lucille was united in marriage to Louie Plaetz at St. Anne’s Catholic Church in Wabasso. Together they lived and farmed most of their lives in Vail Township. After retiring from the farm, they moved into Wabasso in 1992. Louie passed away in 2012. Lucille remained in their home until moving to Serenity Suites in January 2019. She volunteered for St. Anne’s School for many years, and was given the Volunteer of the Year Award. She was also very active in her church and served as secretary for many years in the Catholic Aid St. Monica Society and as a mission quilter for church. Lucille loved visiting and spending time with her family, especially with the grandkids. She also enjoyed quilting and crocheting, gardening and flowers, and putting puzzles together. Lucille is survived by her children: Joyce Seitz of Lafayette, Carol Peterson of Arizona, Marie Plaetz of Wabasso, Leon (Joyce) Plaetz of Wabasso, Nancy Tedros of Florida & Bruce (Sherry) Plaetz of Wabasso; 18 grandchildren, 31 great grandchildren, one great great granddaughter, sister in law Louise Rice of Granite Falls, and many other relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Louie, grandson Joe Peterson, great grandson Michael Peterson, sons in law: Robert Peterson, Dick Seitz & Yoseph Tedros, and brothers: Walter, Melvin, Herb & Harry Jr. |
