Juanita attended grade school at the Lower Sioux and three years of high school at St. Mary’s Church School for Girls in Springfield, then graduated from Redwood Falls High School in 1945. Juanita furthered her education by attending business school in Portland, Oregon. On March 19,1965 Juanita and Richard Horn were married in Reno, Nevada. The first trip they went on together was to Bombay, India, followed by Hong Kong, Singapore, Trinidad, Tunisia, and several trips through the Panama and Suez Canals. After years of adventure, they made their home in Redwood Falls. Juanita remained a member of St. Cornelia’s Episcopal Church her entire life. She was also a member of the VFW Cootiettes in Portland, Oregon and the American Legion in Florida. Juanita was an avid reader who enjoyed doing crossword puzzles, watching football games, and boating. One of her favorite activities was traveling with her husband and seeing the world. Juanita enjoyed time spent with family and a good many friends, even better over a good dinner and a drink. She loved a good laugh and always had a joke ready. Her wishes are to be buried at the Lower Sioux next to her husband, “Then everyone have party time!” Juanita is survived by her daughter, Dawn Marie (Randy) Newell; two granddaughters: Whitney Ann Keltner and Jordan Marie Carlson; siblings: Leonard Eller, Mary Jean (Reuben) Prinzing & Iola Johnson; the Otto family; and all the friends at Homestead Apartments.
