Donalee Schmidt

Donalee (Neuschwander) Schmidt, age 85, formerly of Redwood Falls, passed away Thursday, July 11, 2024 at Parkview Senior Living in Belview. Private family services will be held at a later date.  Stephens Funeral Service – Redwood Valley Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

Donalee (Neuschwander) Schmidt was born May 10, 1939 to Donald and Elsie (Thompson) Neuschwander in Phoenix, AZ. As a young child, she moved with her family back to Minnesota. She grew up in Redwood Falls and after her schooling there, she married Dale Hultquist. To this union 3 children were born – Tim, Tammy and Tracie. On October 15, 1965, Donalee married the love of her life Phillip James Schmidt, Jr. who brought into this family 3 daughters – Sheila, Stacy, and Darcy. Together, Donalee and Phillip added Cathi and Steven. Donalee loved sewing, and she made countless beautiful garments. She was very crafty, enjoyed reading novels, and was a great cook. She was an animal lover, especially of dogs. She spent many hours outdoors, growing beautiful flower gardens and she took her family on many camping adventures. Above all, her favorite pastime was simply being with family.

Donalee is survived by her children: Timothy (Judy) Hultquist, Stacy (Cliff) Schmidt-DeArmond, Darcy (Tim) Werner, Tammy (Bruce) Blaine, Tracie (Glenn) Huseby, Cathi (Dale) Lee and Steven (Alisha) Schmidt; 20 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; 2 sisters: Teri (Roger) Zeug and Susan (David) Johanneck; and many other family & friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, son Jeff Schmidt, daughter Sheila Kempfert, grandson Chad Kempfert and infant great-grandson Cole Schibilla.
