Ardith Joan (Likness) Hoffbeck, age 90 of Tracy, passed away October 28, 2024 at O’Brien Court in Tracy. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, November 1, 2024 at Tracy Lutheran Church in Tracy. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be in the Hoiland Cemetery, rural Tracy. Stephens Funeral Service – Tracy Area Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements. Ardith Joan (Likness) Hoffbeck was born October 10, 1934 to Ted and Mary (Mortland) Likness at the Slayton Hospital. In 1939 she was baptized at the Slayton Methodist Church and in 1949 was confirmed at Ellsborough Lutheran Church. She grew up on a farm near the Ellsborough Lutheran Church and attended country school District 45. At the age of 13, Ardith came down with rheumatic fever and was bedridden for nearly a year. She attended Balaton High School for a couple of years and earned her GED in 1988. Ardith was united in marriage to Alvin Hoffbeck of Redwood Falls on June 5, 1953 at Ellsborough Lutheran Church. They ran a dairy farm near Redwood Falls and later in the Tracy area. They retired in Tracy in 1993. Ardith was a member of Tracy Lutheran Church where she was active in Women’s Circles, Ladies Aid, was a Sunday School teacher, Meals on Wheels, a Greeter, Prayer Chain group, Bible Studies and Monroe Friendship Club. She was a member of the Vesta Square Dancing Club and Senior College. Ardith loved spending time with her husband “Allie”. They had 66 years together and shared many mutual interests including their faith in Jesus, and visiting with family and friends. Together they enjoyed fishing, playing cards, board games and puzzles, reading books, traveling, gardening, Senior College, playing piano for their own entertainment, and feeding birds. Ardith spent time knitting and embroidering but her favorite pastime was watching her children, grand and great-grandchildren’s sporting and school events. Ardith is survived by her children: Gary (Judy) of Underwood, Wayne (Cindy) of Woodbury, Marge (Richard) Lyons of Vesta, Daryl (Joan) of Welch & Keith (Carin) of Garvin; 20 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; sisters: Adele Cook of Coon Rapids & Karen Barrett of Slayton; and many other family and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Alvin, and siblings Mary Ellen Lavoie & Orvin Likness. |
