Dale Lee Wehmeyer was born July 4, 1944 in Heron Lake, MN to Herman and Violet (Thomas) Wehmeyer. He was baptized and confirmed at Bethany Lutheran Church in Storden and graduated from Storden High School in 1963. After graduation, Dale worked at a milk plant and was a farm hand. He also worked alongside his dad both for the Fire Department and for the City of Storden. Dale proudly served in the U. S. Army from March 15, 1967 to January 8, 1969. Stationed in Vietnam, he was trusted to deliver classified documents. When he returned home after receiving his Honorable Discharge, Dale found comfort in the familiar fields and faces of the Storden area. On October 18, 1969, Dale married the love of his life, JoAnn Schoenenberger. Together, they built their home with their 5 children first in Windom, then Storden, and finally settled in Westbrook. Throughout his career, Dale worked hard for Windom Ready Mix, Kuehl’s Trucking, Sunderman Trucking, and Berg Trucking, before finding his place at R&R Dairy, where he dedicated many years before retiring. Dale loved living life to the fullest. He enjoyed playing pool and cards and was a regular on the bowling league in Storden. Deer hunting with his sons was not just a hobby – it was a cherished yearly tradition that brought the family closer. In later years, Dale found joy in painting pillowcases and creating paint-by-number pictures, always sharing his artwork with those he loved. He spent quiet moments doing word find puzzles and watching Western movies, savoring life’s simple pleasures. But above all, Dale’s favorite moments were spent playing with his great-grandkids and being surrounded by his family, who meant everything to him.
