John L. Seehausen, age 82 of Redwood Falls, formerly of Morton, passed away Sunday, October 4, 2026, at Garnette Gardens Care Suites in Redwood Falls after a battle with cancer. Memorial Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, October 13, 2026, at the Redwood Valley Funeral Home. Visitation will begin at 9:00 a.m. and will continue until the time of the service. A private family interment will be held in the Morton City Cemetery. John L. Seehausen was born to John and Lela (Brockway) Seehausen on December 15, 1943 in New Hampton Iowa. John was baptized and confirmed into the Methodist faith. In 1961 he graduated from Franklin High School. John was united in marriage to Sandra Lynn Bidinger June 10, 1964. To this union they were blessed with three children: Chad, Troy, and Cory. The two spent 61 wonderful years together, until her passing on October 14, 2025. John worked for Tachtronic in New Ulm as a Quality Control Manager; he later moved to Morton and as an entrepreneur, John founded, owned and operated many businesses in Morton contributing to the economic success of the town he loved. From the local hardware store, lumber yard, carpet business, a construction company, grain storage and handling equipment, and a rubber and urethane manufacturing company. John served as Mayor of Morton from 1980-1994 and started the Morton Foundation. He spent a lot of his time at the RACC and woodworking, but his favorite hobby was golfing for over 30 years. John is survived by his sons, Troy (friend Cathy Morawitz) Seehausen & Cory (Natalie) Seehausen; grandchildren: Taylor (Curt) Hardwick, Nicholas “Nick” (friend Marcella) Seehausen, & Addison Seehausen; great-grandchild, Eleanor Ann “Ellie” Hardwick; siblings: Darlene Knight of New London, Minnesota, Bob Seehausen of Florida, & Tom Seehausen of Mesa, Arizona; and many other relatives & friends. He is preceded by his parents; wife, Sandra; son, Chad; brother, Bill; and sister, Ellen. | |
