Lewis Swoboda, age 86 of rural Redwood Falls, passed away on Saturday, April 12, 2025 at the Mayo Clinic Health System in Mankato, while surrounded by his family. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, April 16 at St. Catherine’s Catholic Church in Redwood Falls. Visitation will be held from 5:00- 8:00 p.m. Tuesday AT THE CHURCH with a prayer service at 4:30 p.m. Visitation will then continue one hour prior to services on Wednesday. Interment is in St. Catherine’s Catholic Cemetery. Stephens Funeral Service – Redwood Valley Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements. Lewis Swoboda, the son of Joseph & Lillian (Amberg) Swoboda was born March 5, 1939 in Redwood Falls, MN. He attended country school and Redwood Falls High School, graduating in 1957. On November 9, 1960, he married Caren Stephens at St. Catherine’s Catholic Church. Lewis lived on and farmed the Swoboda family Century Farm his entire life. He and Caren were blessed with six children and 16 grandchildren (six step-grandchildren) and 28 great grandchildren. Lewis loved his family, farm, friends, and community. He was a member of 4H, FFA, and the National Guard. He later was active in the Morton Lions, St. Catherine’s Knights of Columbus, and on the Beaver Falls Town Board. Lewis is survived by his wife Caren of 64 years; children: Cheryl Gewerth of Morton, Tim (Kay) Swoboda of Mountain Lake, Jim (Connie) Swoboda, Paul (Sue) Swoboda, Cathy (Brent) Prouty all of Redwood Falls and Connie (Al) Liebl of Danube; 15 grandchildren (six step-grandchildren) 28 great-grandchildren; and a sister Marcia (John) Dworshak of Renville. He is preceded in death by his parents Joseph & Lillian, brother Jerry, brothers-in-law: Roger Stephens & Kenny Stephens, son-in-law Dick Gewerth and grandson Shawn Gewerth. |
