July 1, 1930 - April 22, 2025 Funeral Home Redwood Valley Funeral Home |
Gwenn (Huschke) Fischer, 94, passed away peacefully on April 22, 2025 from complications following a stroke. The ladies breakfast table at Flagstone will be a little less lively without Gwenn’s clever quips, as she would “…wonder if we’ll be around to see these green bananas turn yellow.” Memorial Services will be held at 12:00 p.m. Friday, May 9, 2025 at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Morgan. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be at a later date in Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis. Stephens Funeral Service – Redwood Valley Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements. Gwenn was born to Herbert & Mildred Huschke July 1, 1930 in Tacoma, WA. When she was one, her family moved back to MN to farm near Gilfillan. Gwenn attended District 83 Country School through the 6th grade, St. Michael’s Catholic School in Morgan for 7th and 8th grades, and graduated from Morgan High School in 1948. She attended the University of Puget Sound in WA and the Mpls. School of Medical Technology, graduating as a lab and X-Ray technician. Her first job was in a small town in Wyoming. She soon moved on to Tacoma, WA to work at the Pierce County Blood Bank. Never one to let grass grow under her feet, Gwenn then decided it was time for a career change (because why not?). She moved to San Francisco and worked for Western Airlines as a travel agent. She loved riding the streetcars to see the sights of the city and going to museums and comedy clubs. Love struck and Gwenn married Clair Fischer April 21, 1954 at St. Michael’s parish in Morgan. They settled on the family farm and raised 5 daughters. This married adventure lasted 69 years until Clair’s passing 12/23/23. Gwenn was a member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church. She enjoyed her garden and bridge clubs, reading, traveling and donating organic produce from her 3 large gardens to friends and the We Care Food Bank. Gwenn and Clair delivered Meals on Wheels to others well into their 80s. She will be remembered for her kind and generous spirit, along with her spark and positivity. Gwenn is survived by her 5 daughters: Leslie, Andrea, Mary, Heidi, Suzanne and their families, and her siblings: Micki Root (deceased spouse: Rich Root) of Morgan, Dave (Pat) Huschke of Midland, MI and Dan (Molly) Huschke of Chanhassen. |
