Martha A. Sandgren, age 91 of Redwood Falls, passed away on Friday, June 6, 2025 at Ren-Villa Health Center in Renville. Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday June 11th at St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church in Redwood Falls with Livestream on the church’s YouTube page. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment is in the Minnesota State Veteran’s Cemetery in Redwood Falls. Stephens Funeral Service – Redwood Valley Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements. Martha was born April 13, 1934 on the family farm in Willow Lake Township, Redwood County, MN to Gustav and Martha (Zick) Fennern. She was baptized and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church in Willow Lake Township. Martha graduated from Redwood Falls High School in 1952. On June 28, 1952, Martha was united in marriage to Floyd Sandgren at St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church in Redwood Falls. After Floyd received his discharge from the US Army, the couple made their home in Redwood Falls. Martha worked as an agronomist for Dekalb and Monsanto for over fifty years. She also helped at Floyd’s Service Station with the bookwork for many years. She was very active in her church. She taught Sunday school, was a youth leader and a member of the Vesper Guild. She was an active member of the VFW Auxiliary in her younger years. Martha enjoyed gardening, bowling and baking. She also enjoyed spending time at the lake and fishing. She spent a lot of her time taking care of her grandkids, and loved attending their events. She also enjoyed watching the MN Twins and Timberwolves. Martha is survived by her sons Jeff (Mavis), Jim (Karen) both of Redwood Falls, & John (Renae) of Olivia; grandchildren: Tyler (Kaylynn), Trevor (Anna Hoffman) & Tara Sandgren, Brennen, Devon (Becca Danich), Abi (Jon Sweetman), Cameron & Easton Sandgren, Logan (Melissa), Jaden (Maleia), Hudson Sandgren, Chevelle (Austin) Macik and Lane & Cole Slagter; great grandchildren: Natalie & Noah Sandgren, J.J. Sweetman, Remi Macik & Nora Sandgren; sister Zerelda Dahms of Redwood Falls; and many nieces, nephews and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Floyd, and brothers: Norman, Leon, Don & Ivan Fennern. |
