Dorothy Ann Kuehl was born on December 30, 1945, in Tracy, MN, to Philip and Catherine (Zens) Weis. She grew up on the family farm near Dovray, MN, and graduated from Walnut Grove High School. On August 10, 1963, she was united in marriage to Douglas Kuehl. In 1964, the couple moved to Bridgewater, SD. In 1966, they returned to Westbrook, and in 1969 bought an acreage southwest of town where they raised their two sons, Scott and Monte. They began farming in 1971. Across 60 years of marriage, homemaking, parenting and partnership, Dorothy either managed the books or was actively involved in operations for the couples’ many entrepreneurial pursuits and properties. Upon retirement the couple moved into Westbrook in 2007. Dorothy had a knack for numbers, puzzles, playing cards and hospitality. She cherished Sisters Trips, visiting with dear friends, attending Mass, preparing special meals and loving on her family — especially her children and grandchildren. Dorothy enjoyed traveling with Doug and friends, including snowmobiling trips and cruises. She was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church in Westbrook, MN. In November of 2021, Dorothy and Doug moved to the Maple Lawn Senior Care Campus in Fulda, until their respective passing.

Survivors include her two sons: Scott (Tami) Kuehl of Nisswa, MN, and Monte (Susie) Kuehl of Madison Lake, MN; three grandchildren: Gunnar Kuehl, Gage (Paige) Kuehl and Gillian (Jakob) Murray; one great-grandson, Malcolm Murray; three siblings: Mary (Robert) Anderson, Helen Peterson and Jan Johnson all of Westbrook, MN; one sister-in-law Seung “Susie” Weis of Tucson, AZ; and many nieces and nephews and their families.
