Virgil Lee Meaden was born May 27, 1947 in Ely, Nevada to Matthew and Augusta (Strey) Meaden. He attended school in Renville, Lynd, and Marshall, Minnesota. Virg and Judi Helmbolt were married in 1967. The couple had two daughters, Dawn and Shawn, and were later divorced. Virg worked at Appleton Silo in Marshall, for a pipeline company across several states, various construction jobs in the Twin Cities, and CEEC in Wabasso. He enjoyed fishing, snowmobiling, and was an avid fan watching the Minnesota Vikings, Twins, Timberwolves, Gophers, and Lynx games on TV. Virg loved spending time with his family, especially his youngest grandson, Curtis, going to the park for picnics, Walmart, Papa’s doctor appointments, and out to lunch at various places in Marshall. They were two peas in a pod until Papa’s health started to deteriorate.
Virg is survived by his daughters: Dawn (and Chad) Howard of Waconia and Shawn (and Jason) Dobrenski of Ghent; grandsons: Anthony Howard of Waconia, Tyler Denison of Ghent, and Curtis Dobrenski of Ghent; brother Gary (and Linda) Meaden of Balaton; sister Priscilla (and Arnie) Dam of Tyler; nephews, nieces, and many other relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents.
So sorry for the loss of your dad and grandpa Shawn, Jason and Curtis, my heart goes out to you at this difficult time. Please know I’m sending warm thoughts and hugs your way. Give Curtis an extra hug from me. Love you! : (
