Pearl Huhnerkoch
Pearl Huhnerkoch, age 100, of Redwood Falls passed away Tuesday, July 12, 2011 at Sunwood Good Samaritan Care Center in Redwood Falls.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. John Lutheran Church.
Visitation is 9:00-10:30 a.m. Saturday at the church. Interment is in St. John’s Cemetery in Sheridan Township. Stephens Funeral Service – Redwood Valley Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
Pearl Huhnerkoch was born December 7, 1910 in Varina, Iowa to John and Emily (Palmer) Siegfried. She moved to Minnesota with her family at the age of 6. Pearl graduated from Redwood Falls High School and Teachers Normal Training in Redwood Falls. She taught school for 7 years near Seaforth and Wabasso. On November 3, 1937 Pearl married Harlan Huhnerkoch at St. John’s parsonage in Sheridan Township. They lived on a farm until moving into Redwood Falls in 1969. Pearl was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Sheridan Township and taught Sunday School for several years. She was a member of the Ladies Aid. Harlan died February 9, 1980. Pearl and Harlan spent many winters in McAllen, Texas. They attended many Twins ball games and enjoyed camping at Minnesota State parks. Pearl was a volunteer at the hospital coffee shop for a number of years.
Pearl is survived by two sons: Hilton (Joan) Huhnerkoch and Dean (Carolyn) Huhnerkoch, both of Redwood Falls; 6 grandchildren: Scott (Sue) Huhnerkoch, Brent (Lynne) Huhnerkoch, Mistin (Michael) Allex, Kevin (Jessica) Huhnerkoch, Chad Huhnerkoch, and Randy (Julie Berg) Huhnerkoch; 14 great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, sister Marcella Sundquist, and two brothers Merle and Harold Siegfried.
