Elmer Possail age 81 of Tyler, passed away Thursday, August 31, 2017 at his home. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, September 4, 2017 at Christ Lutheran Church in Marshall. Visitation will be 4:00-7:00 p.m. Sunday at the Tyler Area Funeral Home with a 6:30 p.m. prayer service. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service at church on Monday. Elmer Harold Possail was born March 18, 1936 to Albert and Florence (Larson) Possail in Lake Stay Township, Lincoln County, Minnesota. He was baptized and confirmed at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in Island Lake. Elmer graduated June 4, 1954 from Ivanhoe, Minnesota and then joined the US Army where he served as a medic in Germany. He flew home to marry his wife Ila Knutson on January 3, 1956 at Diamond Lake Church near Lake Benton. He was discharged in October of 1956 and came home to farm. Farming and cattle were his dream. Elmer served on the Farm Credit Service Board, Soil and Water Conservation Board and Lyon-Lincoln Electric Board. He was a member of the SW Cattlemen’s Association, Tyler Legion and served as treasurer of his church. Elmer and Ila enjoyed traveling to the 50 states together as well as Canada, Mexico, British Columbia and Germany. Elmer also enjoyed playing fast pitch softball around the Tyler area. His greatest joy was his family – he was so proud of his children and their families. Elmer enjoyed every chance he got together with them.
Elmer is survived by his wife Ila of Tyler; children: Deanna (Clair) Drake of Tyler, Roxane (Andy) Weber of Elkton, SD, Doug (Janel) Possail of Tyler, and Duane (Jeanna) Possail of Tyler; 12 grandchildren: Darice (Jason), Chad (Renae), Daynica (Patrick), Cade (Amanda), Lindsey (Adam), Sidney (Jared), Lance (Kaitlyn), Justine, Bailey, Taylor (Nicole), Jade (Brett), and Shayna; 14 great-grandchildren: Ramsey, Jerad, Kennedy, Reese, Kellen, Kai, Jens, Juhl, Svea, Colt, Mavryck, Rhett, Jace and Callen. He is also survived by his siblings: Margaret (Bob) Kolb, Clarence (Glenyce) Possail, Clara Hastings; brothers-in-law Marvin Allen and William (Deb) Kaczrowski. He is preceded in death by his parents, son Kendall, sisters: Sylvia Allen and Laura Kaczrowski, brother-in-law Ivan Hastings, sister-in-law Lucinda Possail and parents-in-law Fred & Christine Knutson.
