Eldon Kuehn

Eldon Delbert Kuehn, age 81 of Redwood Falls, passed away surrounded by his beloved family Saturday, April 14, 2018 at Park Nicollet Methodist Hospital in St. Louis Park following a short, unexpected illness. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, April 20 at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Redwood Falls. Visitation will be 4:00-7:00 p.m. Thursday at Redwood Valley Funeral Home with a Time of Sharing at 6:45 p.m. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service at church.  Stephens Funeral Service – Redwood Valley Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

He was kind-hearted, hard-working man who never met a stranger. If you didn’t know him at the beginning of the conversation, you did when you said goodbye. He will be deeply missed by everyone in his life.  He would tell you he was born May 15, 1936 to Erna and Armin Kuehn in Willow Lake Township, Minnesota. A man of God, Eldon was confirmed at Willow Lake Lutheran Church and attended St. John’s Lutheran Church after moving to Redwood Falls. Eldon graduated high school in Wabasso in 1954. He married Emilie Holt on June 4, 1960 and they had three wonderful children. He served in the Army at Fort Hood in Texas (on the same base as Elvis, he’d make sure to tell you!).  Eldon was a dairy farmer for the majority of his life until he worked 20+ years at Schult Homes. He couldn’t sit still for more than two minutes, so he drove pilot car until he actually retired at the age of 80.

Grandpa Eldon (or Papa Onion to some of the little ones who can’t say his name) is survived by his beautiful wife Emilie; children: Kim (Ron) Vagle; Kevin (Pam) Kuehn and Kris (Mark) Kappes; grandchildren: Jessica (special friend Jake) Haas, Jackie Vagle, Jenna Vagle, Michael Haas, Lance (Jill) Kuehn, Brittnee (Chris) Dawson, Derek (fiancée Lisa) Kuehn, Isaac Kuehn, Manda (Travis) Mueller, Nikki (Travis) Ardolf and Stephie (Jeff) Almendinger; great grandchildren: Andrew & Brady Haas, Ben & Claire Kuehn, Emily & Alivia Kappes, Caleb Ardolf, Brenden Mueller, and Burke, Tegan & Breanna Almendinger; brother Delbert (Sharrol) Kuehn; sister Wilma Jensen, and many extended family members, friends and neighbors.  Eldon is preceded in death by his parents Erna and Armin, and sister Lila.

Take care now, Grandpa Eldon.

    Emilie,

You probably don’t remember the Bernard girls (Carol and Judy) but we went to church in Seaforth with the
Kuehn boys so got to know them and also went to the public school in Wabasso. Carol and I have fond memories
of Eldon and Delbert. Carol wanted to be sure to pass along condolences, along with my own, for your loss. Blessed be his memory.
