Janet Ione Minkel was born February 10, 1935 to Earl and Viola (Tram) Brown in Honner Township, Minnesota. She grew up in Beaver Falls and graduated from Morton High School. On June 26, 1954, Janet and Arlyn Minkel were joined in holy matrimony at the Nazarene Church in Redwood Falls. From this joyous union, six children were born and entrusted to their loving care. For Janet, these children were biological, but so many more knew her as Ma Minkel and loved her dearly. Janet held many jobs during her lifetime, but her favorites were waitressing and healthcare. She was an avid supporter of her children, from boy scouts to athletics…sometimes embarrassingly so! Janet loved to sing, bake, volunteer at the thrift store, and spend time with her family.
From her legacy of love and family, she left to carry on her memory; her sons: Arlyn “Al” (Viola) Minkel, Kevin (Chong) Minkel, Brian (Judy) Minkel and Keith (Lisa) Minkel; her daughter Lynn (Curt) Standfuss; her daughter-in-law Michelle (Brent); and her favorite brother Robert (Barb) Brown. Her true pride and joy came from her 21 grandchildren: Bradley, Kevin, Matthew & Tiffany; Jessica, Jennifer & Abby; Jesse, Keith & Katie; Mollie, Kyle & Alec; Brandon, Bruce & Bradley; and Raschelle, Bryce, Jeremy, Cynthia & Mitchell. Her heart made room for even more as she welcomed her 37 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren. She was welcomed at the pearly gates by loved ones that had gone on before her; her parents Earl and Viola, husband Arlyn, son Brent, grandson Daniel, sister Judy and brother Richard.
Sending sympathy! Janet will be missed! We have beautiful memories of her, she raised a beautiful family! Hugs to all! May these many memories see you through the days ahead! Prayers for the family!
