James “Jim” Ourada, age 69 of Vesta, passed away unexpectedly following a courageous battle with cancer on Saturday, June 15, 2019 at Methodist Hospital in Rochester. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, June 20 at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church in Lucan. Visitation will be 5:00-8:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 19 at the church with a 7:00 p.m. prayer service. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service at church on Thursday. Burial is in Our Lady of Victory Catholic Cemetery in Lucan. Stephens Funeral Service – Redwood Valley Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
James “Jim” Edward Ourada was born November 2, 1949 at Tracy, Minnesota, to Francis and Marcella (Wacek) Ourada. He received the Holy Sacraments at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church in Lucan. Jim graduated from Milroy High School in 1967. In 1968, he enlisted in the US Navy and was deployed to Vietnam. He was proud to have sailed around the world while serving his country. He was honorably discharged in 1972. Jim furthered his education at MN West in Canby and earned a degree as a fuel injection specialist in the fall of 1974. He married his “bride,” Ramona “Mona” VanLoy at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church on December 7, 1974. Together they lived in Montevideo, Duluth, and settled on their farm outside of Vesta in 1980. He was a member of Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church, Lucan American Legion, Knights of Columbus, and the Patriot Guard Riders. Jim loved being outdoors, working on projects, fixing things, and especially loved spending time with his children and grandchildren. He always looked forward to traveling and spending time with his “bride.” He was a hard-worker who had a deep passion for farming the land and caring for animals. Jim had a huge heart, quick wit, a smile that lit up a room, and helped everyone he could, never expecting anything in return. Most mornings he could be found at the Vesta Café playing cards with his friends over breakfast. He was the best husband, father, father-in-law, and grandad anyone could ask for! He will be deeply missed.
Jim is survived by his wife, Ramona “Mona” Ourada of Vesta; children: Keith (Kayla) Ourada of Kasson, MN, Jason (Allison) Ourada of Vesta, and Lisa (Brian) McCoy of Enterprise, AL; grandchildren: James Ourada, and Blakely, Liam, Logan, and Brandon McCoy; siblings: John (Linda) of Salina, KS, Ron (Barb) of Fargo, ND, Terry (Laurie) and Dave (Judy) of Lucan, Lyle (Rose) of Coraopolis, PA, and Sharon (Art) Price of Mankato; sister-in-law Tammy Ourada of Wabasso; and many other relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, and brothers Jerome and Alan.

Our deepest sympathies to the loss of Jim our prayers are with the Ourada’s and the Van Loy’s. He will be very much missed to all who knew him. I remember all the Ourada’s when we were growing up because they were our neighbors on the from they were the next place where Terry lives now. I will especially miss him at the veterans day program in Lucan.
Hugs and Prayers to you Mona!! So very very sorry to hear this news!! What a wonderful life he lived!! Strength to you in the coming days, weeks and beyond!! Always Your School Counselor Friend, Tina Kanthak
I’m so sorry for your loss. I’d like to share some real hope with you. In Psalms 146:4 tells the condition of the dead. “His breath goeth forth, he returneth to the earth and that very day his thoughts perish.” In John 6:40+44 and Acts 24:15 the bible promises a resurrection of our loved ones back to earth in the last days. When Jesus resurrected Lazarus from the dead, it was to earth. That was a foregleam of the future. In Psalms 37:11+29 says man will live forever on the earth in peace. That was God’s original purpose, for man to live forever in the garden of eden. God’s purpose hasn’t changed. In Isaiah 45:18 says God created the earth to be inhabited. That’s why he gave his son to die for us, John 3:16, so we could have everlasting life on earth. In Revelation 21:4 says there’ll be no more pain or death. Since there’s no pain or death in heaven, those are future conditions here on earth as God had intended. JW.org

Our thoughts and prayers are with you all.
Thoughts, love and prayers from your Arizona family. We will always cherish the memories of such a kind, fun, generous man. I remember Jim driving the tractor to Grandpa’s house 28 years ago so my city kids could sit in the tractor. It was running and my 2 year old daughter was so scared of such a BIG green monster!? She cried the entire time…Jim was always a person that could make you smile.
My deepest sympathies to the family. I remember Jim mostly when we were kids and, as cousins, we’d get together either at the farm or in Olivia. Jim obviously touched a lot of people… Rest In Peace.
My sincere sympathies for your loss. Many happy times on Frank and Marcie’s farm. Lots of fun will all the Ourada boys and many memories!
Love you, favorite father in law!
So very sorry for you loss. Love and prayers to you Mona, and your family. Think of you all.
