Shelly Anna Jacobsen, age 67 of rural Morgan formerly of Minneapolis, passed away Wednesday, September 11, 2019 at Ecumen Prairie Hill Assisted Living in St. Peter. According to her wishes, no services will be held. Memorials may be sent to the We Care Project at P.O. Box 84 Morgan, MN 56266. Stephens Funeral Service – Redwood Valley Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
Born on October 2, 1951 to Richard and Jane (Woodford) Jacobsen in Sleepy Eye, Minnesota. She graduated from Morgan Public High School. Shelly continued her education at Mankato State University where she graduated with an accounting degree. Later, she received her Certified Public Accountant certification. Shelly worked as an accountant in Houston, TX and then Minneapolis. She then opened her own accounting business in Minneapolis before moving it to New Ulm and finally to Morgan. She served many of her clients from the cities, even after she had moved away from Minneapolis, until she retired in August of 2017. The We Care Project food shelf in Morgan was very important to Shelly. She enjoyed collecting and refurbishing Cushman scooters, Farmall tractors and ‘57 Chevy’s.
Shelly is survived by her siblings: Judith (Lloyd) Tompkins of Park Rapids, David (Charlene) Jacobsen of Faribault, and Curtis (Lisa) Jacobsen of Garrison; many nieces and nephews who were very special to her; many close friends; and her cat Bubba. She is preceded in death by her parents, sisters Janice & Kathryn and niece Nicole.
She will be missed by her family and all relatives.
God bless the family at this time of sorrow
I have, and will miss Shelly’s honesty, courage, intelligence and compassion for all those who were hurting.
I will miss us being at my cabin, shopping, lunch outings, great political discussions, long phone conversations, laughing so hard we would cry, riding in her yellow and very fast auto with that darn “fuzz buster” going off way to often. And, oh that beautiful smile and laugh.
She was such a beautiful human being and such a dear friend.
My sympathy for all who loved her and appreciated her for who she was.
Shelly was a long time member of the Minnesota Cushman Club. She will be missed by all of us. Condolences to the family.
My husband was a neighbor and remembers her family and her well. I went to school with her but was a year older so just knew who she was at that time. My sympathy goes out to her family and friends that knew her well.
Our condolences to Shelly’s family. She was our accountant and good friend for many years. We enjoyed her friendship, appreciated her business expertise and are thankful for having known her. God’s blessings.
I’m so sorry to hear about Shelly’s passing. I wish I had gotten to know her better over the last few years as she was a fine cousin always. I remember fun memories when we were younger and all the cousins would get together. Also as she was working at jobs going through college. May you rest in peace. Tim Woodford
