Frances “Frannie” BarnesFrances “Frannie” Rose Barnes age 77 of Belview passed away Tuesday, October 5, 2010.Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, October 10 at Grace Lutheran Church in Belview.
Visitation will be Saturday, 5:00-8:00 p.m. at the Redwood Valley Funeral Home with a prayer service at 5:00 p.m. Visitation will continue one hour prior to services at the church on Sunday. The Redwood Valley Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
Frances Rose Barnes was born August 24, 1933 in Champaign, Illinois to Stephen and Nola (Treece) Sullivan. She attended school in Urbana, Illinois. Frannie was united in marriage to Rupert Barnes on July 6, 1951 in Urbana, IL. Together the couple lived in Alamogordo, New Mexico – White Sands Proving Grounds while Rupert was in the service. They lived in various locations before settling in Minnesota. She stayed home to raise her family. Frannie loved her job at the DAC (Development Achievement Center), now Service Enterprises, where she worked for 28 fulfilling years with the mentally challenged. After retirement, Frannie volunteered at the Parkview Nursing Home in Belview. She was very involved in many community activities, especially for the children during Halloween and Christmas events. Frannie was an active member of the Booster Club, the American Legion Auxiliary, and Grace Lutheran Church. She enjoyed camping and various outdoor activities, and loved family activities. She was known by many as “Grandma Frannie”. Frannie touched so many lives with her joy and love of life.
Frannie is survived by her husband of 59 years, Rupert; children: Pam (Tom) Breitkreutz of Belview, Kim (Marlo) Sander of Belview, Darrel (Rose) Barnes of Orlando, FL, and Ronda Barnes of Anoka, MN; grandchildren: Sunni and Anthony Hemingsen, Sommer and Eric Day, Aaron Sander, Jamie Sander, Travis and Jamie Breitkreutz, Josh Breitkreutz, Ashley and Dylan Thiel, Kwang Suksumek, Nicky and Ty Barnes; great grandchildren: Henry and Greta Hemingsen, Claire Breitkreutz, and Spencer and Bailey Day; siblings: Wendell (Betty) Sullivan, Donald (Polly) Sullivan, Dean Sullivan, and Joyce (Arnold) Kropp; and many other relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, sister Alvena Sullivan and brother Marvin Sullivan. |
