Betty Mahoney Betty Mae (Wilken) Mahoney age 87 of rural Redwood Falls, formerly of Milford, Illinois, passed away Monday July 11, 2016 at the Redwood Area Hospital after an extended illness.  Memorial services will be at 11:00 a.m. Friday, July 29 at St. John Lutheran Church in Redwood Falls.  Visitation is 5:00-7:00 p.m. Thursday, July 28 at the Redwood Valley Funeral Home and will continue one hour prior to services at the church on Friday.  Private family burial will be in the Redwood Falls Cemetery at a later time.  Online condolences may be sent at www.stephensfuneralservice.com.  Stephens Funeral Service – Redwood Valley Funeral Home in Redwood Falls is assisting the family with arrangements.

Betty Mae (Wilken) Mahoney was born June 1, 1929 in Milford, Illinois to John and Mable Wilken.  She grew up on a farm north of Milford and graduated from country school.  Betty went to work at Crow’s seed corn company where she met John “Jack” Mahoney.  They were united in marriage on October 20, 1947 and moved to Redwood Falls in 1949.  The couple was blessed with three children.  Betty began working at Control Data when it opened in Redwood Falls, where she worked for 18 years.  She was a member of St. John Lutheran Church, American Legion Auxiliary, and a life-time member of the VFW Auxiliary serving as president for many years.  Betty enjoyed needle work, word and jigsaw puzzles, and woodworking.  She loved to travel with Jack.  After he passed away she went on many bus tours with R&J Tours.

Betty is survived by her children: Robert (Linda) Mahoney of Redwood Falls, Brenda (Darrel) Danielson of Lowry, and Debra (David) Sullivan of Kasson; grandchildren: Robin Mahoney (friend Jeff Freitag), Bobby Mahoney (friend Jordan Senkyr), Nick (Micala) Danielson, Deanna Danielson, Dustin Sullivan, Rya Sullivan (friend Nathan Kropifko); grandson-in-law Domonique Berg; 21 great grandchildren; sister Delores Breeding of Milford, IL; sisters-in-law Mary Schnell of Willmar and Ruth Mahoney of Redwood Falls; and many nieces and nephews.  She is preceded in death by her parents John and Mable Wilken, husband John, granddaughter Wendy Mahoney-Berg, five infant grandchildren, four infant great grandchildren, and three brothers-in-law: Bill Mahoney, James Schnell, and Flaven Breeding.
