Renetta I. (Stroschein) Bode
Renetta I. (Stroschein) Bode, age 87 of Wood Lake passed away on Monday, July 12, 2010 at Parkview Nursing Home in Belview surrounded by her family. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 18 at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church in Posen Township south of Wood Lake. Visitation will be held Saturday, 4:00-7:00 p.m. AT THE CHURCH with a prayer service at 6:30 p.m., and will continue one hour prior to services on Sunday. Interment is in St. Luke’s Lutheran Cemetery. The Redwood Valley Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
Renetta I. Bode, known to many as “Scotty”, was born March 20, 1923 in Posen Township, Wood Lake, to John and Anna (Deunsing) Stroschein. She was baptized April 8, 1923 and confirmed in 1937 at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church. Renetta attended St. Luke’s Lutheran School through the 8th grade and graduated from Wood Lake High School in 1941. She was united in marriage to Ezra A. Bode August 24, 1941 at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church. Renetta enjoyed working side by side with her husband Ezra on their dairy farm near Wood Lake, and also had several jobs outside the home when needed. She was a lifetime member of St. Luke’s, to which her great-grandfather was one of the founders. Renetta was also a member and officer of the Ladies Aid and caretaker of the church with Ezra for many years. She was always there for everyone with a loving hand and heart and often put everyone else’s needs before her own. Renetta enjoyed gardening – both flowers and vegetables, baking and decorating cakes for all special occasions, and was famous for her rum cake. Her fun loving nature will be greatly missed.
Renetta is survived by daughter-in-law Dianne Bode & friend AJ of Burnsville; children: Robert (Charlotte) Bode of Wood Lake, Beatrice (Verlin) Scheer of Wood Lake, Curtis (Sandy) Bode of Rice Lake, WI, Kevin (fiancé Karin) Bode of Phoeniz, AZ and Elizabeth (Pete) Lavin of Wood Lake; grandchildren: Tim (Crystal) Bode, Mark (Samantha) Bode, Michelle & Brian Bode, Jon (Laura) Scheer, Josh (Holly) Scheer, Trishia (Steve) Iacono, Megan (Paul) Grudt, Sara (Jon) Gilbertson, Nathan (Heather) Bode, Matthew, Jenna & Griffin Bode and Chad Beckler; 28 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her husband Ezra, son Burdette “Butch” Bode, granddaughter Sanndy Olson, grandson Richard Scheer, brother Everett and sister Evelyn.
