Edna Bollman
Edna Bollman age 95 of Moorhead, formerly of Tyler, passed away on Sunday, May 27, 2012 at Sanford South University Palliative Care Center in Fargo, ND.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday June 1 at the Grace First Parish in Russell. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services at the church on Friday. Interment is in Lakeside Cemetery in Balaton. Stephens Funeral Service – Tyler Area Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
Edna Dwire Bollman was born May 6, 1917 at Balaton, MN, to Harry and Petrea (Larsen) Dwire, and she was the oldest of five girls. Edna grew up on a farm on the north shore of Lake Yankton. Following her mother’s passing in 1926, Edna helped her dad with farm operations and helped raise her four sisters. On January 1, 1941, Edna and Fred Bollman were married at the Presbyterian Manse by Rev. Stanley Williams. Edna and Fred lived on the Bollman farm near Wendell, MN for the first three years of their marriage. They purchased a farm east of Tyler in 1944, where they farmed until they retired and moved into Tyler. After moving to town, Edna worked for many years at Danebod Village. She was a lifelong member of the Presbyterian Church at Balaton and Russell. Edna was a church Elder, was active in the Women’s Association, and was a Sunday School teacher. She also served as Secretary of the Lyon County Farmer’s Union. Edna was an avid gardener, enjoyed baking at Danebod, and spent lots of time crocheting and quilting. The loves of her life were her kids and grandkids.
Edna is survived by her children: Dennis (Sharon) Bollman of Bemidji, MN, and Betty (Roger) Hansen of Horace, ND; grandchildren: Kimberly (Gene) Kaml, Kelli (Randy) Lish, Ryan (Shawn) Hansen, Dayna Olson, and Loren (Whitney) Hansen; great-grandchildren; Kayla Kaml, Shelby Hansen, Shyanne Kaml, Madisen Hansen, Jake Lish, Luke Hansen, Dawson Lish, Ross Olson, and Allie Lish. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Fred, 3 children, and sisters: Millie, Helen, Ethel, and Ella.
