Carolyn Lutterman age 72 of Tyler passed away on Sunday, March 04, 2018 at Sunrise Manor in Tyler while surrounded by her family. Memorial services will be held at 11:00 am Wednesday at Danebod Lutheran Church in Tyler. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Interment is in the Danebod Cemetery. Stephens Funeral Service – Tyler Area Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
Carolyn was born August 6, 1945 in Tyler to Peder and Aster (Markussen) Christensen. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. She graduated from Tyler High School in 1963. Carolyn worked in Minneapolis for a couple years after graduation. On July 24, 1965, Carolyn was united in marriage to Darwin “Dub” Lutterman at St. Dionysius Catholic Church in Tyler. Together the couple lived in Omaha for 2 ½ years before returning to Tyler in November 1967. Carolyn worked in the kitchen at the old nursing home, and later the new nursing home. She also worked for Maynard’s for 19 years. After her retirement in 2006, she became active at the Food Shelf in Tyler and she served as president. Carolyn was a member of the Red Hat Society and the “Stick-to-its” Tuesday morning group. She was also an active member of Danebod Lutheran Church, where she served on the WELCA and on the church council. Carolyn enjoyed spending time on the ipad, reading, and gardening, especially flower gardening. Carolyn enjoyed her dog, and loved spending time with her family and friends.
Carolyn is survived by her husband Dub of 52 years; sons: David and Darren (Monica) all of Tyler; sister Shirley (Merle) Hansen of Tyler; sisters in law Shirley Hiller of Eden Prairie & Nancy Lutterman of Tyler; and many other relatives and friends. Preceding her in death are her parents and a sister in law Kathy Dunn.
