Ernest Cohrs

Ernest Cohrs, age 82 of Dovray passed away Sunday, August 8, 2010 at his home.  Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, August 12 at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Dovray.  Visitation will be held 5:00-7:00 p.m. on Wednesday at the Westbrook Funeral Home and will continue one hour prior to services at the church on Thursday.  Burial will be in the Pleasant View Cemetery in Dovray.   Memorials are preferred to a hospice of the donor’s choice or the American Cancer Society.  The Westbrook Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements. 

Ernest was born May 30, 1928 in Dovray Township, Minnesota to Ernest Edward and Anna Katherina (Prigge) Cohrs.  He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith.  Ernest attended country school.  He was united in marriage to Donna Lekander on July 20, 1945.  In his early years Ernie was an active community member. He was a loyal member of the Dovray Lutheran Church.  He enjoyed fishing, hunting, golfing, playing cards, vacationing, lazy days at the lake and spending time with family and friends.  On January 11, 1992 Ernest was united in marriage to Florence Miesen.  Ernest was a loving father and husband, grandfather, great-grandfather, farmer, and friend.  He will be deeply missed. 

Ernest is survived by his wife Florence Miesen; children: Michael (Coralyn) of Park Rapids, MN; Mark (Charlene) of Park Rapids, MN; Darla (Thomas) Work of Chaska; Kay (Mark) McDonough of Comstock WI; and Jennifer (Bart) Winkler of Lakeville, MN; 14 beautiful grandchildren; and 6 great-grandchildren.  He is also survived by Miesen family members: Mary Kay Miesen of Hawaii, Marsha (Charles) Casey of Cannon Falls, MN, 2 grandchildren, and 2 great-grandchildren.  He is preceded in death by his parents and first wife Donna.
