Dale Abrahamson Dale Abrahamson, age 88 of Sleepy Eye, formerly of Lafayette, passed away Thursday, May 11, 2017 at his home while surrounded by family.  Memorial services will be at 11:00 a.m. Monday, May 15 at United Faith Methodist Church in Sleepy Eye.  Visitation is 4:00-7:00 p.m. Sunday at the church and will continue one hour prior to services on Monday.  Burial is in Greenwood Cemetery, rural Lafayette.  Memorials are preferred to Redwood Area Hospice, Home Cemetery, or a charity of the donor’s choice.  Online condolences may be sent at www.stephensfuneralservice.com.  Stephens Funeral Service – Redwood Valley Funeral Home in Redwood Falls is assisting the family with arrangements.

Dale Peter Abrahamson was born February 25, 1929 in New Sweden Township, Nicollet County, Minnesota to Chester and Thea (Hansen) Abrahamson.  He attended country school near his home.  Dale served in the Army in the 27th Engineering Company B.  On December 29, 1984 he married Joan (Braun) Schroepfer.  Dale worked various jobs over the years including being a janitor at St. Mary’s School and most recently he was caretaker of Home Cemetery for 25 years.  Dale was very proud to keep the cemetery looking nice, especially for Memorial Day.  He liked to stay busy.  Dale enjoyed fishing, hunting, going to casinos, and the trip he and Joan took to Germany.  He loved being around family.

Dale is survived by his wife Joan of Sleepy Eye; children: Deb (Neal) Pehrson, Darrell (Traci) Abrahamson, Brenda Abrahamson, and Dennis (Denise) Abrahamson; stepchildren: Jean Schmitz, Stanley (Linda) Schroepfer, Paul (Linda) Schroepfer, Beth Schroepfer (Jerry Judkins), Kathy (Jeff) Mathahs, Karen (Terry) Galuska, Glenn (Cindy) Schroepfer, and Curt Schroepfer; step daughter-in-law Kari Schieffert; 9 grandchildren; 21 step-grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; and 24 step-great grandchildren.  He is preceded in death by his parents, sister and brother-in-law Doris and Harding Mattson, and stepson Jim Schroepfer.

    I am so sorry to hear about your dad’s passing. I have many wonderful memories of coming to your home in Lafayette and remember your dad as always having a smile on his face. He will be missed.
