Darlene Amundson age 84 of Dovray passed away Saturday, January 16, 2016 at the Westbrook Good Samaritan Care Center. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, January 22 at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Dovray. Visitation will be 5:00-7:00 p.m. Thursday at the Westbrook Funeral Home, and will continue one hour prior to the service at church on Friday. Burial is in Our Savior’s Lutheran Cemetery in Dovray.
Darlene Joyce (Swenhaugen) Amundson was born September 20, 1931 in Westbrook, Minnesota to Andrew and Mabel (Dahl) Swenhaugen. She was baptized and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church in Westbrook. Darlene graduated from Westbrook High School in 1949, and furthered her education at Mankato Commercial College. On October 22, 1955, Darlene was united in marriage to Aron Amundson at Trinity Lutheran Church in Westbrook. Darlene worked in her own home, helping on the family farm, and raised her family. She was a member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church where she was very active with WELCA and the quilting groups. She completed hundreds of quilting projects, both at home and at church. Quilting was her passion. Darlene enjoyed cooking, baking, and making cross stitch items for her family. She was a member of bowling leagues in Westbrook for many years. Darlene’s most precious treasures were her grandchildren and great-grandchildren; she loved them beyond measure.
Darlene is survived by her children: David (Lori) Amundson of Dovray, Sara (Todd) Van Den Einde of Corcoran, MN; son-in-law Bruce Koster of Currie; grandchildren: Manda (Eric) Jorgenson, Shanell (David) Schneider, Garett (Kristie) Amundson, Chasity Koster, Cory (Erin) Koster, Chase Koster, Alyssa (Lee) Glidden, Jake Van Den Einde, Hanna Van Den Einde; and great-grandchildren: Mya, Maximus, and Eli Glidden, Ayla and Makinley Jorgenson. She is also survived by her twin sister Delores Wenner of Dallas, TX; and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Aron, daughter Jan Koster, grandson BJ Koster, sisters: Alice Clark, Gladys Koppi, Millie Anderson, LaVonne Ennenga, and brothers Otis, Manley, and Arnie Swenhaugen.
I am so sorry for your loss. Please know that God is not the cause of this sadness. But He WILL soon fix it. Soon He will fulfill the promise made to us in John 5:28&29, and Revelation 21:3&4. I sincerely hope you find comfort in these scriptures about our future here in Earth…Jw.org
