Debby Jean Mathiowetz age 57 of Wabasso passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, September 1, 2018 at her home. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Anne’s Catholic Church in Wabasso. Visitation will be held one hour prior to service on Thursday. Interment is in St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery in Lamberton. Stephens Funeral Service – Redwood Valley Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
Debby was born August 29, 1961 in Redwood Falls, to Linus & Marcella (Harnack) Mathiowetz. She was received the sacraments at St. Anne’s Catholic Church in Wabasso. Debby grew up in rural Wabasso, and attended kindergarten in Wanda, and grade school at St. Anne’s Catholic School in Wabasso. In 1980, Debby graduated from Wabasso High School. She then attended Hutchinson Tech for Child Development. Debby worked as a home health aide in Pipestone for a number of years. Later she worked at the Wabasso Health Care Center after she moved back to Wabasso to be near her family. She retired in the early 2000’s due to health complications. Debby was a lifetime member of St. Anne’s Catholic Church. She loved country music and Elvis Presley. She enjoyed shopping, and collecting cookbooks and jigsaw puzzles. She also loved spending time with her family, especially her nieces and nephew.
Debby is survived by her mother Marcella Mathiowetz of Wabasso; father Linus (Betty) Mathiowetz of Dawson; siblings: Cindy (Jim) Zschetzsche of Comfrey, Brian (Karen) Mathiowetz of Italy, TX, Bert (Tammy) Mathiowetz of Becker & Eric (Kari) Mathiowetz of Garvin; nieces and nephew: Destiny & Desirae Mathiowetz and Anna, Sara & Noah Mathiowetz; and many other relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her grandparents, great grandparents, cousin Fran Mathiowetz, aunt Patsy Schuller, and uncles: Leo Schuller, Bill Mathiowetz, and Edwin & Charles Harnack.

I’m so sorry to hear of Deb’s passing. I went to school with Deb from St. Mathias in Wanda all the way to high school I remember Deb as being a very quiet and kind person. My prayers go out to her family.
