Delores M. Rupp age 81, formerly of Avoca Township and Dovray, passed away Thursday, March 28, 2013 at Maple Lawn Nursing Home in Fulda.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Dovray.
Visitation is one hour prior to services at the church. Interment is in Our Savior’s Lutheran Cemetery. Stephens Funeral Service – Westbrook Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
Delores was born July 30, 1931 in Des Moines River Township, Murray County, MN to Hobart and Pauline (Iverson) Engen. She was baptized on November 8, 1931 and confirmed June 9, 1946 at Our Saviors Lutheran Church. Delores attended country school District 53. On April 10, 1954 she was united in marriage to Arlo Rupp at her parent’s home. Together they lived on the Rupp family farm south of Westbrook. They farmed until Arlo passed away. Delores later moved to her parent’s farm to care for her dad. She also helped cooked at the restaurant. In October 2003 Delores had an accident and entered Westbrook Good Samaritan Care Center. In March 2004 she moved to the nursing home in Fulda to be near her brother. Delores was a member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church where she was active in WELCA, helped with quilting, and belonged to the Dorcas Bible Study Society. Delores was a good cook, enjoyed embroidery, and dancing with Arlo in her younger years.
Delores is survived by her cousins: Lois (Smokey) Silvernale of Newton, KS, Don (Sally) Johnson of Minneapolis, Ruby Yochem, Helen Iverson, and Vonnie Hollingsworth, all of Dovray, Iola Bergman of Minneapolis, and Doris Reinhard of Isle; and many other relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Arlo, and brother Roger Engen.
