Eileen JaspersenEileen Frances Anderson Jaspersen passed away at the Prairie Home Hospice in Marshall on Sunday, June 8, 2014 at the age of 85.  A celebration of life will be held on Sunday, June 29 at 2:00 p.m. at Christ Lutheran Church in Cottonwood where Eileen was a member for many years.  The family will receive friends prior to the service from 12:00 to 1:45 p.m. and a light luncheon will follow.  In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Prairie Home Hospice in Marshall, MN or to a charity of the donor’s choice to benefit children.  Stephens Funeral Service – Redwood Valley Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

Eileen Frances Anderson Jaspersen was born on September 1, 1928 in Garvin, MN to Alphie and Frances (Cruickshank) Colburn.  She graduated from Tracy High School and went on to study nursing at the Eitel Hospital in Minneapolis.  Eileen married Robert Anderson of Cottonwood, MN on April 6, 1950.  Together they raised 3 children in Bloomington, MN where she worked as an elementary school nurse for over 20 years. She and Robert returned to Cottonwood to retire, wintering at “Winter Ranch” in Alamo, TX.  After the death of her husband Robert in 1993, Eileen was married to Arnold Jaspersen on January 20, 1995, until his death in 2002.  Eileen later moved to Boulder Estates in Marshall where she lived until this year, traveling often to visit friends and relatives around the state, in Texas, Washington, and Canada.    She loved people and was always on the lookout for an opportunity to lend a hand where possible.

Eileen will be greatly missed by daughter Karen (Jim) Ilika, son Terry (Maureen) Anderson, son-in-law James Pitmon, 7 grandchildren,  7 great grandchildren, nephew Doug Carlson, and a great many friends and extended family.  She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, sister Murriel Carlson, nephew Duane Carlson and daughter Robin Pitmon.

  1. Sorry to hear of the loss in your family. She was a lovely lady. I remember when she participated in the photo shoot at Greenlake, what a fun memory!
