Susie Fischer
Susie Fischer age 75 of Wabasso passed away on Sunday, July 15, 2012 surrounded by her family after a long and courageous battle with COPD.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Anne’s Catholic Church in Wabasso.
Visitation will be held from 4:00- 8:00 p.m. Wednesday AT THE CHURCH with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. and a Christian Mothers Rosary service to follow. Visitation will then continue one hour prior to services on Thursday. Interment is in St. Anne’s Catholic Cemetery. Stephens Funeral Service – Redwood Valley Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
Susie was born on April 22, 1937 in Wanda, MN to Louis & Laura (Berg) Ludewig. She received the sacraments at St. Mathias Catholic Church in Wanda. Susie attended public school in Wanda through the 8th grade. She then attended Lamberton public school through the 11th grade, and graduated from St. Anne’s High School in Wabasso in 1955. After her schooling, Susie worked at Montgomery Ward and Dekalb in Redwood Falls. On July 3, 1958, Susie was united in marriage to Nick Fischer at St. Mathias. Together the couple made their home on the family farm south of Wabasso where they lived their entire married life. Susie was a member of St. Anne’s Catholic Church where she was active in the CCW serving a term as president. Susie had great organizational skills. She dedicated her life to her family, cooking and caring for them. She loved attending all of her kids’ activities, and spending time with her grandchildren. Susie was an avid sports fan, and especially enjoyed baseball. She was a fan of the Yankees and the Twins. She loved going for drives and visiting family and friends. Susie was a strong person and fought an amazing battle with COPD. She exceeded expectations and maintained her good sense of humor through it all.
Susie is survived by her husband Nick of 54 years; 11 children: Sheila (Gary) Harris of Bloomington, Nick Jr. (Rebecca) of Apple Valley, Pat (Cheri) of Chanhassen, Julie (Ben) Howard of Brooklyn Center, Dan (Kathy) of Wabasso, Jill Fischer (John Paul) of Mankato, Mark (Amy) of New Prague, Dean (Tracie) of Wabasso, Mike (Kris) of Wabasso, Brian (Mary Sue) of Wabasso, & Shelly (Scott) Hegel of Chanhassen; 22 grandchildren: Brieann, Brett, Katelyn, Kyle, Evan, Cole, Tyler, Jenny (Justin), Becky (Josh), Debbie, Danny, Elizabeth, Lydia, Lexi, Brody, Addison, Kendra, Kelsey, Kallie, McKenzie, Jaxon, & Louie; one great grandchild on the way; sisters Louella (John) Becker of Easton, and Marilyn (Raymond) Gores of Bloomington and many other relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents Louis & Laura and son Scott in 1965. |
