Duane Goettig

Duane Goettig, age 52, of Elkton, SD, formerly of the Marshall area, passed away unexpectedly Monday, July 25, 2011.

A memorial service will be held at7:00 p.m. Friday, July 29 at the Tracy Area Funeral Home.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. until the time of services Friday at the funeral home. Stephens Funeral Service – Tracy Area Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

Duane Goettig was born July 27, 1958 in Tracy, Minnesota to Darold and Rose (Hoffman) Goettig. He graduated from Tracy High School in 1977. Duane was united in marriage to Karen Towne, and to this union his son, Kevin, was born. Later, Duane married Shelly Simmons. Duane loved cookouts with his son and driving truck. He enjoyed working around the house and fixing things. He was a jack of all trades.

Duane is survived by his son, Kevin Goettig; parents Darold and Rose; godson Nicholas Janachovsky; siblings: Lonnie (Cindy) Goettig, Jeff (Teresa) Goettig, Kelly Goettig, Darrin (Sara) Goettig; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his paternal and maternal grandparents, and infant brother Wayne.
