Becky HammerschmidtBecky Hammerschmidt age 58 of Redwood Falls passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, October 11, 2009 at her home of natural causes.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Catherine’s Catholic Church.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. Tuesday at the Redwood Valley Funeral Home with a 6:30 p.m. prayer service. Visitation will continue one hour prior to services at the church on Wednesday. Interment is in St. Catherine’s Catholic Cemetery.
Becky was born June 15, 1951 in New Ulm, MN to Linus and Pearl (Ellevold) Fromm. She attended school in New Ulm. In 1965 Becky moved to Redwood Falls where she met her husband. On June 20, 1968 Becky was united in marriage to Steve Hammerschmidt in Pipestone, MN. Steve was drafted into the service, and shortly after the wedding Becky moved with Steve to Germany for three years during his time in the military. They then moved back to Redwood Falls where they raised their two children. Becky had a good sense of humor and always had jokes to tell. She had a big heart for supporting charitable causes, especially the disabled veterans. Becky enjoyed cooking and music. She loved going to the cabin at the lake and spending time with her family. She also enjoyed all animals, especially her dogs.
Becky is survived by her husband Steve of 41 years; children: Stacey Heiling and husband Chad of Redwood Falls and David Hammerschmidt of Redwood Falls; grandchildren: Jon and McKenna Hammerschmidt; siblings: Tim (Lynn) Fromm of Kenyan, Lori Tauer of Gibbon, Jeff Fromm of Sleepy Eye, Greg (Brenda) Fromm of Sleepy Eye, and Joe Ellevold of Sleepy Eye; grandma Emily Netzke of Sleepy Eye; stepfather Ron Ellevold of Sleepy Eye and many other relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her mother Pearl. |
