Louis Hoffmann
Louis John Hoffmann, age 86, of Wabasso passed away Tuesday, October 4, 2011 at Sunwood Good Samaritan Center in Redwood Falls after a brief illness.
A Memorial Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday at St. Anne’s Catholic Church in Wabasso.
Visitation is 9:00-11:00 a.m. Friday at the church. Interment is in St. Anne’s Catholic Cemetery. Stephens Funeral Service – Redwood Valley Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
Louis Hoffmann was born April 15, 1925 on the family farm in Vail Township, near Wabasso, to Joseph and Mary (Salfer) Hoffmann. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Anne’s Catholic Church in Wabasso. Louis attended country school District 76 and later St. Anne’s Catholic School. He was awarded a high school diploma through the military in 2000. Louis enlisted in the US Army in August of 1944. He served in France and Germany and was honorably discharged in July of 1946. Louis returned to the Wabasso area and farmed for approximately 50 years on the home farm. He was a member of the Wabasso Senior Citizens and Wabasso American Legion. He enjoyed selling sweet corn and raising watermelon. Louis loved attending to his game farm and playing cards.
Louis is survived by his brothers Sylvester (Marion) of Lucan and Leonard of Fridley; sisters Marcella (Cyril) Gengler of Adrian and Lorraine Wagner of Wabasso; sister-in-law Barb Hoffmann of Scobey, MT; brother-in-law Norbert Bernardy of Lucan; and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, brother Cletus, and sisters Alvina Remiger and Lucy Bernardy.
