James “Jim” Dording age 84 of Redwood Falls passed away Monday, April 11, 2016 at his home. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, April 18 at First Presbyterian Church in Redwood Falls. Visitation is 4:00-6:00 p.m. Sunday at the Redwood Valley Funeral Home and will continue one hour prior to services at the church on Monday. Burial is in the Redwood Falls Cemetery. James F. Dording was born May 14, 1931 in Sleepy Eye, Minnesota to Frank and Gertrude (Arndt) Dording. He attended school in the Springfield and Sleepy Eye areas. On September 28, 1951 Jim married Sally Kohler at the Presbyterian Church in Brookings, South Dakota. Together the couple lived and farmed in the Springfield and Morgan areas before moving to Redwood Falls in 1968. Jim also worked for Dekalb and retired in 1995. After retirement, he worked many years for Scott-Preusse, driving for dealer trades and deliveries. Jim was a member of the Presbyterian Church where he served as an elder. He enjoyed fishing, going to Green Lake, and riding on the pontoon. Jim loved driving, having coffee with his friends, watching sports, and following his kids and grandkids in their sports activities.
Jim is survived by his wife Sally of 64 years; children: Stephen, Greg, and Barb (Tom) Stough, all of Redwood Falls; grandsons: Brady (Abbie), Beau (significant other Victoria Streich), and Blaise; great granddaughters Addelyn and Iyla; sister Karen Dording of Maple Grove; and many other relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents and son Jeff in June 1980.
