Janis “Sue” Weelborg age 83, of Redwood Falls, passed away Monday, November 19, 2018 at Wood Dale Nursing Home in Redwood Falls.  Private family services will be held with burial in Redwood Falls Cemetery.  Stephens Funeral Service – Redwood Valley Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

Janis “Sue” Weelborg was born June 14, 1935 to Robert and Faye (Johnson) Sullivan with her identical twin sister Lou in Bowling Green, Ohio.  Sue and her family, which included two older sisters, lived in Ohio until Sue was 10 years old.  The family then relocated to Mineral Wells, TX where Sue graduated from Mineral Wells High School in 1953. After Graduation while working at the USO, she met Myron “Mike” Weelborg when he was stationed for basic training with the Army in Weatherford, TX.  They were married within a year and then Mike was deployed with the Army Corp of Engineers to Korea.  Upon returning from Korea Sue and Mike relocated to Blaine, MN where Mike was employed with the United States Postal Service and then eventually establishing a career in the Grain Business.  They moved to Morgan in 1965 and lived there until 1992 when they moved to Redwood Falls and remained after Mike Weelborg retired from Harvest Land Cooperative after 44 years. In Sue’s final year she lived at Wooddale Nursing Home in Redwood Falls.  Sue lived a full and busy life filled with many interests; it has been said that she lived life on her own terms.  Sue in her younger years was an accomplished singer with a beautiful Soprano voice, she was an artist, painter, sculptor and she also loved to knit.  Sue was in business with two of her closest friends owning The Paris Shop (women’s clothing) for a number of years.  When her sons left for college, Sue filled her ’empty nest’ years with raising Arabian Horses, Llamas and Alpacas.  Sue loved her family and was proud of all their accomplishments.  Although not a large person in stature, her commitment, determination, and strong will was evident as an example how she lived her life.

Sue is survived by her husband Mike, sons: Brad of Mankato, Bart (Ruthann) of St. Peter and Brett (Sue) of Redwood Falls; grandchildren: Ashley (Preston) Preuss, Nicole (Phil) Bryan, Kyle Weelborg, McKenzie Weelborg, Natalie Weelborg, Rachel Weelborg and Sophia Weelborg; great grandchildren: Barrett and Freya Preuss; and older sister: Garnett Scott of Weatherford, TX.  She is preceded in death by her parents and her two sisters, Joyce and Lou.
