Florence Johanneck
Florence G. Johanneck, age 92, of Redwood Falls, formerly of Seaforth, passed away Wednesday, October 12, 2011 at Seasons Hospice House.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Catherine’s Catholic Church in Redwood Falls.
Visitation is 5:00-8:00 p.m. Thursday at the Redwood Valley Funeral Home with a prayer service at 8:00 p.m. Visitation will continue one hour prior to services at the church on Friday. Interment is in St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Seaforth. Stephens Funeral Service – Redwood Valley Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
Florence G. Johanneck was born March 7, 1919 in Vesta Township to Arnold and Rose (Boushek) Kramer. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Seaforth. Florence attended school in Seaforth for 8 years, walking to school every day. She attended for 4 years and graduated from Redwood Falls High School. Florence received her degree from the Minnesota School of Medical Technology in Minneapolis. On September 12, 1946 she was united in marriage to Jerome Johanneck at St. Mary’s. They moved to the farm in 1948. While she was a member of St. Mary’s Parish, Florence directed the choir for many years, and was active in CCW and Catholic Aid, and was the president of Christian Mothers. Later Florence was a member of St. Catherine’s Catholic Church and St. Teresa’s Mission Club. She worked at the Redwood Hospital and Dr. Ford’s office in Marshall. Florence moved to Redwood Falls in 1980. She resided at Garnette Gardens the past 3 years where she referred to the staff as her “angels” and they became her second family. Florence liked to crochet and do embroidery and ceramics. She enjoyed playing Bridge, dancing, and singing.
Florence is survived by her children: Jill (Bill) Pawlowski of Perham, Joyce (Bob) Beckers of St. Michael, Mike (Vicki) Johanneck of Redwood Falls, Mark (Vicki) Johanneck of Buffalo, Peggy (Kenny) Jensen of Sacred Heart, and Tom (Connie) Johanneck of Seaforth; 20 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; sisters Irene Parsons of Minneapolis and Marie (Lenus) Johanneck of Wabasso; and numerous other relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Jerome, brother Myron Kramer and sister Fern Brey.
