Keith Weis age 62 of Dovray passed away Saturday, August 24, 2013 at Sanford Sioux Falls Medical Center.
Memorial Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, August 28 at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Dovray.
Visitation will be 4:00-7:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 27 at the Westbrook Funeral Home, and will continue one hour prior to the service at church on Wednesday. Keith Weis was born September 3, 1950 in Tracy, Minnesota, to Philip and Catherine (Zens) Weis. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Westbrook. Keith attended country school north of Dovray until he moved to Worthington with his family in 1964, and graduated from Worthington High School in 1968. After graduation, Keith joined the United States Marine Corps on December 9, 1968. He served in Okinawa and Vietnam. In 1972, Keith married Cindy Arfsten and they were blessed with two daughters. They were later divorced. Keith was the owner and operator of Keith’s Backhoe and Trenching for many years, and he took great pride in his work. He recently retired due to ill health. Keith was a member of the Dovray American Legion and the Westbrook VFW. He enjoyed assembling jigsaw puzzles, paint by numbers, and telling jokes and stories.
Keith is survived by his daughters: Janelle (Todd) Engstrom of Burlington, IA, and Nichole Duft of Ramsey, MN; grandchildren: Olivia and Isaiah Engstrom and Jack Duft; brothers John (Jane) Weis of Avoca, Robert (Seung) Weis of Sierra Vista, AZ; sisters: Mary (Robert) Anderson, Dorothy (Douglas) Kuehl, Helen (Lee) Peterson, and Jan Johnson all of Westbrook; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, infant brother Thomas, son-in-law John Duft, and fiancée Sue Nelson.
