Lenh Dinh Phan was born November 13, 1937 in Vietnam. He was united in marriage to Nam “Nancy” Thi Le. As a Vietnamese refugee, Lenh came to the United States with his family in July 1975. They were sponsored by Gloria Dei Lutheran Church in Redwood Falls, where he has been a member of the community for the past 42 years. In Vietnam, Lenh worked as a telephone technician at the U.S. Embassy in Saigon from 1967-1975. After he arrived to the U.S., Lenh worked at the Southern Minnesota Beet Sugar Factory for 25 years as a Lime Rock Shovel Operator. When he retired in September 2001, he was second in seniority. Lenh was a longtime member of Gloria Dei Lutheran Church. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, tinkering in the garage, and walking at the RACC. He dreamed of building a home for his family and was so proud when he was able to achieve that goal in 1991. He loved spending time at home, watching television, and was a dedicated NBA fan. Most of all Lenh loved spending time with his family.
Lenh is survived by his wife Nam of 54 years; sons: Linh Phan of Redwood Falls, Lon (Nancy) Phan of Silver Springs, MD & Luyen (Gam) Phan of Northfield; daughters Tracy Phan of Minneapolis & Tina Phan Jenniges (John) of Redwood Falls; grandchildren: Sam & Ethan Phan and Mila Jenniges; and many other relatives and friends. Preceding him in death are his parents and a brother.
Our sympathy to the Phan family. Lenh will be and is missed in our morning walks at Racc and always getting a smile and greeting from him. We enjoyed his teasing and stories he told of his life. What a wonderful person he was.
Our thoughts and prayers go out to Lenh’s family, so very sorry to hear of Lenh’s passing. He was a very dedicated employee of Southern MN Beet Sugar Cooperative. Blessed be his memory.
