Lenus Cletus Johanneck, age 100 of Wabasso, passed away Sunday, January 7, 2018 at Golden Living Center in Wabasso. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, January 10 at St. Anne’s Catholic Church in Wabasso. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church on Wednesday. Interment will be in the St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Seaforth at a later date. Online condolences may be sent at www.stephensfuneralservice.com. Lenus Cletus Johanneck was born March 10, 1917 to Joseph and Emma (Fixsen) Johanneck at Red Lake Falls, Minnesota. The family moved back to the Wabasso area around 1920. Lenus attended Wabasso public school and graduated in 1935. On June 10, 1950, Lenus married Marie Kramer at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Seaforth. He was a longtime member of St. Anne’s Catholic Church and served as a song leader and lector for many years. Lenus also belonged to the Catholic Order of Foresters and Catholic Aid. He was a member of the Wabasso Lions Club. Lenus spent most of his life on the place where he farmed being able to live there past 100 years of age. His wife Marie passed away in March of 2016. Lenus enjoyed fishing and building furniture. He loved his family, grandchildren and simple life in general.
Lenus is survived by his children: Philip (Agnes) of Redwood Falls, Stephen (Carol) of Robbinsdale, Kevin of Wabasso, Robert (Pat) of White Bear Lake, Elizabeth of Richfield, Jeffrey of Maple Grove, Anne (Dennis) Hammerschmidt of Montevideo, Peter of Breezy Point, and Dan of Wabasso; grandchildren: Jon, Valerie, Geoffrey, Tim, Stephanie, Kasey, Emily, Catherine, Kelly, Ryan, Alison, James, Kris, Sam and Charles; many great grandchildren; brother-in-law Al Brey of Wabasso; sister-in-law Veronica Johanneck of Sleepy Eye and many other relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his wife Marie, parents, grandson Andrew Johanneck and siblings Elvera Kahnke, Gerald Johanneck, Norbert Johanneck, Erma Saldin, and Elaine Watson.
