LeRoy EllingsonLeRoy Thor Ellingson, age 73 of Amiret, passed away Sunday, July 22, 2018 unexpectedly due to a farm accident.  Memorial Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, July 27 at Tracy Area Funeral Home in Tracy. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Interment will be in the Tracy City Cemetery.  Stephens Funeral Service – Tracy Area Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

LeRoy Thor Ellingson was born December 5, 1944 to Leland and Bernice (Gilb) Ellingson in Redwood County, Minnesota.  He attended Lucan Public Grade School and Milroy High School.  LeRoy had various jobs; he worked at the Tire Center at Montgomery Wards in Redwood Falls, and later at Baune Tiling.  He was self-employed most of his life in the salvage business.  Leroy cleaned up many farms of used farm equipment.  On December 11, 1964, he married Joanne Radke in Lucan.  To this union four children were born Jeff, Mike, David and Lee.  They made their home in Amiret.  Later in life, LeRoy met Joyce Swenson and they loved going to auctions and casinos together.  They enjoyed each other’s company and driving around the country side.  LeRoy belonged to a Pool League and the Saratoga Archery bow hunting club for many years.  He loved spending time in the woods hunting and trapping.  LeRoy also enjoyed fishing and stock car racing.  He had a passion for motorcycles his entire life.  He loved going to the motorcycle rally in Sturgis every year.

LeRoy is survived by his sons: Michael (Niña) Ellingson, David (Kimberly) Ellingson both of Charlotte, NC, and Lee (Angel) Ellingson of Tracy; grandchildren: Jessica, Joshua, Jaryd, Jenna, Michael, Alex, Rachel, Victoria, Sydnee, Chaser, Katelynn, Dereck, Levi and Adrian; great grandchildren: Rylen, Jayce and Paxton Ellingson; siblings: Arleen (Ron) Meulebroeck, Charles (Connie) Ellingson and James (Rebecca) Ellingson. He is preceded in death by his parents Leland and Bernice Ellingson and son Jeffery Ellingson.

  3. Lee and family, enjoyed have you as neighbors a few years back, and was shocked he had passed. I knew him back from the Walnut Grove sale barn, always a joy to be around. Love you guys alot.

  4. We haven’t known LeRoy very long since our daughter Andrea was with Jeff and had Chaser Thor together. He was always kind hearted. We would see him at the Slayton car races and Chaser would always sit by him.
