Lorraine M. Petersen age 92 of Westbrook, formerly of Storden, passed away Saturday, June 1, 2013 at Westbrook Good Samaritan Care Center.
Memorial services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Olaf Lutheran Church in rural Walnut Grove.
Visitation is one hour prior to services at the church. Private family burial will be at a later date. Stephens Funeral Service – Walnut Grove Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
Lorraine was born August 19, 1920 on the family farm by Revere to Severin and Elvina (Kenly) Kopperud. She attended School District 4 between Westbrook and Revere. On October 10, 1947 she was united in marriage to Howard M. Petersen. They lived in north central Minnesota a couple of years. Howard received his teaching degree and taught in Whittier, California. Lorraine worked for Signa Corp. (Life Insurance Company). When Howard retired, they moved back to Minnesota and lived in Richfield for a number of years. Shortly after Howard passed away, Lorraine fractured her pelvis and moved in with her nephew Don. They resided in Carver for 5 years before Don retired and they moved to Storden where they lived for 5 years. Lorraine entered Westbrook Good Samaritan Care Center in November 2010 where she has resided since. Lorraine enjoyed singing.
Lorraine is survived by her nieces and nephews: James (Debby) Kopperud of Zimmerman, Darla (Allan) Yotter of Hector, Terry Edlund of Richfield, and Don Kopperud of Storden; and many grand nieces and nephews and great grand nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Howard, and siblings Sherman, Francis, Naomi, and Deloris.
